The ultimate Flashpacker laptop

Yesterday I went in to buy some photo paper and came out with a new laptop. A new Sony Vaio X series. I simply couldn’t get over how light it was compared to my old travel laptop, the lenovo X200 tablet. The X200 with charger, tips the scales at over 2.4kg, while the new Vaio X is 640g and with charger hits 860g. Thats still less then a 1kg or under 2 pounds.
Before the X200 I had a eeepc, but threw it away after a few weeks, the keys started playing up and the wi-fi sucked. If a location didn’t have a wired connection it was cross your fingers and pray to your favourite deity. I still remember carry around that piece of …junk thing like a zombie looking for a hot spot in the corridor of one hotel. The screen was tiny and it wasn’t a perticularly fast either.
I liked the x200 but the tablet is overkill and quite frankly used this feature about twice. who needs it for traveling?? Even with the extended battery it didn’t seem to stay awake very long.
So I needed some HP photo paper (long story) and passing through laptops as one does to reach the consumables section, caught sight of the Sony X. When I picked it up it was “err.. where is the rest of it?”. It was so light I had to look underneath it to see if was a plastic display shell. vital statisitics: 7.5 hours of battery life. 11″ LED screen. 2GB RAM. 64gb SSD. windows 7. aside from the main hinge and the ethernet port that opens up to accept a cable, no moving parts. It was love at first sight.
I left that shop with HP photo paper and new laptop. Next week I am off to borobudur and be taking this ultra light svelt and sexy babe with me. anyone want to buy a x200 cheap?
